During the month of October, the Central Arkansas Workforce Development Area joins the United States Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment During the month of October, the Central Arkansas Workforce Development Area joins the United States Department of Labor's Office of Disability and our partners in commemorating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM honors America's workers with disabilities and serves as a reminder to employers of the value of inclusive employment practices, especially as we rebuild our economy.
The theme for this year is "America's Recovery: Powered by Inclusion."
In his Presidential Proclamation for National Disability Employment Awareness Month, President Biden stated that this month is a chance for us to recommit ourselves to dismantling barriers to access and inclusion in the workplace. As the President observed, “people with disabilities are still too often marginalized and denied access to the American dream. . . The COVID-19 pandemic has compounded these inequities, as people with disabilities have faced heightened risks.”
We are committed to ensuring that people with disabilities have access to excellent jobs and opportunities for progress and will continue to work with our partners such as the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services to ensure that people with disabilities have equitable access to jobs.
