Dollar General is looking to hire 400 workers for the Warehouse in the Galloway area.
The starting pay ranges from $19.50 to $22.50, depending on the person's shift and assigned job.
The starting shift would be eight hours a day, five days a week. Shifts could switch to four days a week with 10-hour workdays. A weekend shift with 10-hour days three days a week could be offered at a later time.
One of the open positions available is General Warehouse. They are responsible for handling merchandise in and out of the warehouse, and supporting all warehouse areas as needed. The General Warehouse worker is responsible for moving incoming or outgoing merchandise by hand, truck, or forklift. They also check, verify, and audit merchandise. The General Warehouse worker identifies, separates, labels, and palletizes merchandise onto flats. They replenish pick areas, fill orders, and load outgoing merchandise into a trailer. The General Warehouse worker reports damages and vendor compliance issues to the supervisor and works to resolve problems or discrepancies. The General Warehouse worker must meet safety, productivity, and quality standards. The successful candidates will have sufficient communication skills basic knowledge of math concepts, be able to use a Radio Frequency Unit, able to learn how to use and operate motorized merchandise movement equipment, and maintain annual certification requirements. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience working in an automated distribution center and with warehouse management systems applications is preferred. General Warehouse workers must be able to lift merchandise to 65 pounds, continuously move, work at heights up to 30 feet above ground, work continuously for up to 12 hours, and can be exposed to extreme heat, cold, dust, and noise. The Cycle Counter- Perishable provides an efficient merchandise flow through the distribution center. They are responsible for counting each pick line and storage location. The Cycle Counter- Perishable must verify packing, retail price, and the item's description. They also research and reconcile all findings. The Cycle Counter also troubleshoots inventory problems and reports issues to the inventory or area supervisor. When necessary, the Cycle Counter adjusts existing inventory data. They also complete all system schedules, control groups, and food counts. They participate in quarterly cutoffs and counts with internal and external auditors when needed. The Cycle Counter also programs, troubleshoots, and operates radio frequency units. They must meet and maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Cycle Counter validates new items and enters information into the Warehouse Management System. They also assign master strategies using daily wave sheets to ensure proper balancing. The Cycle Counter updates the item master, monitors the PR system daily, and consolidates all items into the same zone to eliminate pallet movement between buildings. They also produce velocity reports to identify high cube/volume items for potential pick zone movement and identify high volume items to separate. The Cycle Counter communicates with the Allocations Department on the expected flow to stores. They are expected to run weekly dead items reports, monitor weekly expired food items reports, and run Item Integrity reports and audits. Candidates must have intermediate math and analytical skills as well as recognize trends. They must have computer skills, able to navigate specific WMS inventory control and Island Pacific programs, and understand Excel and Word. Candidates must know about UPC functionality and food date codes, packing and shipping units, adjustment accounting, and warehouse operations. They must be able to eliminate distractions, be detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills. The Cycle Counter must understand Inbound and Outbound processes and supply chain flow. A Forklift/MUOP license, experience in automated retail distribution, prior work experience dealing with inventory or numbers, and post-high school education are preferred. The Cycle Counter must be able to lift up to 65 pounds, be exposed to heights above 10 feet, and be able to walk long distances. The Cycle Counter Lead will mostly work in an office setting, but will occasionally be in the distribution center.
