After being employed as a GIS Technician for 4 years, Jonathan Rhymes found himself unemployed after being laid off from Modis located in Little Rock. Desperately, after six months of an unsuccessful job search, he was ready to pursue a career that would put him in the position of continuing to be a provider for his family.
As a result, in July 2019, he reached out to the Arkansas Workforce Center in Benton for help and decided to pursue a career in the Transportation Industry, which would allow him to accomplish his goal.
Afterwards, Jonathan enrolled in the occupational skills training component of the WIOA Dislocated Worker Program and began the training program at the Pine Bluff Truck Driving School, Inc.
After passing all the required parking and backing up maneuvers and memorizing all the required parts of the vehicle, he graduated with his certificate on August 23, 2019. Today, Johnathan is employed at Swift Trucking, earning an estimated annual wage of $60,000.
Overall, Johnathan is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the WIOA Dislocated Worker Program, and is excited about what the future holds and recognizes his family is provided for.
