Pulaski County Government is thrilled to announce the completion of Phase 1 of the Southwest Trail, a planned 65-mile paved recreational trail that will connect Little Rock to Hot Springs. The first 4+ mile stretch is now complete, and we invite the community to join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, April 15 at 10:00 AM located near Iron Horse Church, 12611 Chicot Road, Little Rock, AR 72209.
The Southwest Trail aims to provide a safe and enjoyable space for biking, walking, and running, promoting active recreation and transportation. This trail is expected to bring significant economic benefits, including increased property values, tourism, and community health improvements. It will serve as a regional attraction, similar to the Arkansas River Trail, but on a larger scale.
“We are excited to open this first phase of the Southwest Trail and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our community,” said Barry Hyde, Pulaski County Judge. “We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the trail, and celebrate with us.”
Community members and outdoor enthusiasts are invited to don their workout attire, lace up their sneakers, and bring their bikes to help celebrate this milestone. Please RSVP here or by emailing lwoodruff@pulaskicounty.net or texting 501-352-9805.
