While struggling to obtain sustainable employment, Tiffany Pumphrey, a single mother, worked various jobs to provide for her two children.
Desiring more for herself and her family, in December of 2016, she contacted the Arkansas Workforce Center in North Little Rock and applied for assistance from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Program.
After her eligibility was determined, Wanda Lewis, One-Stop Center Career Consultant, assessed and developed and Individual Employment Plan that defined Tiffany’s essential needs to successfully complete her career path in the health industry. Shortly after, Tiffany received numerous services including Comprehensive Assessment, Occupational Skills Training, services from Pulaski County Adult Education, and personalized Case Management Services.
In June of 2017, she received her Technical Certificate from UA Pulaski Technical College. Furthermore, in August of 2017 she obtained her Arkansas State Practical Nursing License.
Overall, she is excited about her new job! With the support of WIOA services, she obtained full time employment with benefits at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital making $19.28 per hour. Tiffany stayed focused and determined, and is now able to sufficiently support herself and her children.
