Travious Wade, an Army veteran, learned to respect CDL drivers from his family's commitment to hard work as a truck driver. Therefore, he realized he had to make a change and knew exactly what to do when he was laid off from his last job and tried applying for other jobs without success. He desired a new beginning in a competitive field. He thought back to how the trucking industry had supported his family for many generations.
He saw job postings for commercial drivers everywhere he looked, delivering everything from merchandise to lumber to the food we all eat. Travious went to the Arkansas Workforce Center in Conway and spoke with a Career Consultant about how he could begin his fresh start as a truck driver.
Travious worked with the Career Consultant to enroll him in the WIOA Dislocated Worker program, and he began CDL School on April 4, 2022. He persevered and earned his Commercial Driver's License on June 13, 2022, through hard work, practice, and dedication.
Travious started working for Ferguson Waterworks full-time on August 8, 2022. He stated that he was embracing his newfound success and that he wanted to thank the Workforce Services for everything they had done to assist him in reaching his goals.
