After serving 21 years and retiring, U. S. Navy Veteran, William Siordini-Thompson found that finding a suitable job with his educational background and interests was very difficult.
He was interested in the Transportation Industry and was eager to own his own business, but after numerous attempts and turndowns for employment, William contacted the Arkansas Workforce Center at Brinkley in March of 2019 to seek assistance with his transition into the civilian workforce.
After meeting with Career Consultant, LaTunjha Camber-Bell, he was deemed eligible to participate in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Dislocated Worker Program. Shortly after, he was enrolled in the educational training component and began his 4 week training at the Level1 Driving Academy in Beebe, Arkansas.
In May 2019, William received his diploma and his Commercial Driver’s License and was offered employment with Schneider Trucking National, Inc. making $18/hour.
As a result, William is pursuing a career he loves and hopes to operate his own trucking business in the near future.
