William Vance Jr., a single father who was incarcerated for over 13 months, became discouraged because he was not able to find gainful employment. He quickly took advantage of the opportunity to further his education and increase his employment opportunities so he could provide for his family.
He visited the Arkansas Workforce Center in Lonoke and met with Patrick Williams, a Career Consultant, to discuss his options. In January 2020, he enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Worker Program, and attended the Pine Bluff Truck Driving School, Inc. where he learned the necessary skills and obtained the experience he needed to become a CDL Class A driver. In March 2020, William graduated with his certificate and became a licensed CDL Class A truck driver with a bright outlook.
In less than a year following his program enrollment, William has made a successful reentry into the community. He is now gainfully employed and intends to pursue additional career advancement opportunities within the Transportation sector.
